Mission Summary
Fleet Captain Kelvar Garth, known better by the nickname Garth of Izar was a Federation war hero and veteran of the Four Years War, but has since landed himself in a Federation rehabilitation facility for the insane after turning on his crew and killing two of them after they defied his orders. After ignoring numerous requests from her former Commanding Officer and ex fiance, Captain Figueroa agrees to visit Garth after he lures her with 'critical' information about the Klingon Empire.
Not being taken seriously by the Federation Council or Starfleet Command, Captain Garth relays the information during her visitation. The Klingon Empire is reportedly constructing the prototype to a new class of battle cruiser, the D-8, a cruiser that is speculated to be more advanced that the Federation's Constitution class starships. Out of loyalty and trust of her former CO and ex fiance, Fig takes it upon herself to go 'off the record' to undertake this rather unsanctioned mission that will put her dangerously close to accelerating the Federation and Klingon Empire into another official war if she and the Musashi get caught. However, if she and her crew can stop the production of the new D-8 prototype battle cruiser, it may prolong the “peace” and prevent another war with the Empire.
Figueroa and the crew of the Musashi must be careful. The location of the supposed shipyard is across the Federation-Klingon border and just into Klingon space. If Garth's intelligence is correct, then the Musashi will find the D-8 prototype only a few weeks to a month away from being completed in the Morska system. Fig's plan is to use the element of surprise during this one starship unsanctioned covert operation by sending a team to extract information from the Klingon database on the D-8 and to sabotage the prototype to the point of destruction. If successful, history may never know the name USS Musashi, but history will also not know of the D-8 Klingon battle cruiser...and that sits fine with Figueroa.
