Boarding Team Beta: Cyberwarefare | Part II-B | Prenatal

Posted on Tue Apr 3rd, 2018 @ 5:32am by Fleet Admiral Donatella Figueroa & Lieutenant Aeryn Vinia

Mission: S01E02 D-8 With the Devil
Location: Boreth Klingon Shipyard | Morgue

Aeryn raised bright blue eyes to her captain and offered an uncertain smile as she drew them away from the group infiltrating further into the station. Her apprehension about this knew no bounds because she was no warrior. "Captain?" she asked quietly "What exactly are we doing?"

Donatella looked at the woman returning her gaze with a sly smirk. "Well, I do believe someone said something about getting their hands on some medical files to help ease my pregnancy and eventual labor of this child inside of my womb" she said as they got clear into the corridor. "I caught sight of the Morgue on a display. It's very close by. We should be able to access the medical database from there" explained the Captain.

Fig took point and proceeded down the corridor. "It's just ahead and to the right into a small room" she said. "My Klingon is piss poor, but I think I can manage to get us something about female or child" added Fig. "We will have to do this quickly though. So, it's going to have to be a quick grab and run with whatever we can get."

"I can't imagine a Klingon Morgue is going to smell very nice" Aeryn muttered sottovocce as she followed the Captain down the hallway. She'd accessed the files on the Klingon language so she had a couple of terms committed to memory that might be of use to them in this instance.

The Captain was sent back in her own mind to when she was held captive by Ke'gak. She could remember the foul stench that assaulted her nostrils on a daily basis until she unfortunately got accustomed to it. "No" she said in a simple initial reply to the nurse. "No, Lieutenant Vinia. I do not imagine a Klingon Morgue will smell pleasant in the east bit. I can tell you that their prisons do not smell that nice, and that's with living Klingons. I can only imagine how terrible a dead one smells."

A delicate shudder took over Aeryn's body and she shook her head "Delightful. Well, I looked up a few terms in the Hoshi database just in case it came to this." In her medkit she had a vial of peppermint oil, and this trip into the decaying underbelly of klingon life might very well require its use.

"Ah the Hoshi database" replied Fig with a smile. "I see Mister Marquez is not the only one who has delved into the great linguistic works of Hoshi Sato" added the Captain as they traversed onward. Getting into the morgue was fairly easy. It was not like it was guarded and these bodies were long deceased and prepared for whatever manner the Klingons had for disposal. She had seen Klingons mourn over the dead before. It was savage like. A blood curdling howl or shriek and the holding of the deceased's eyes open. For whatever purpose thought Fig.

Regardless, the howling and shrieking was long since passed. These bodies were unattended, but she did not intend to stick around too long. Fig looked around the room. It was dark but nobody alive at least was in sight. She decided to keep the room dark with the exception of the light mounted on her riffle. She swung his around the room and kept it spotlighting ahead locked on a bulky object in the corner of the room. "That's it" announced the Captain. "May Hoshi guide us" sighed the Captain as she and the nurse headed over towards the medical station.

Fig tapped the screen and the console illuminated. The text was distinctively Klingon. She took a deep breath and then brought her index finger to the screen tapping once more. "I think we're in business" commented the Captain. "She's all yours" added Fig moving aside.

She untied a stick of memory from it's hiding place around her neck, and caressed the blue triangular piece of glass with her thumb. Twisting it between nervous fingers she inserted it into the triangular port that glowed orange in the front of the console. A search query bar was flashing in front of her eyes on the screen and she tapped in ghu (Baby). Information started pouring from the computer, and she slid her fingertips over the panel to direct the information to her memory stick.

Aeryn's next search qeary was hergh, klingon for medicine. She figured pharmacology would be the next best thing to have, so that she might get pain medicine that was safe for her captain and the baby when she went into labor.

As Aeryn worked at acquiring the information she sought while Donatella had a look around. There was not much to see, but there was no time like the present to settle any odd postmortem curiosities that Fig may have had about the Klingons. She had taken a look at two deceased Klingons, both of whom were male. "I do not see any signs of a medical examination. No autopsy of any sort. At least not that I can tell. The bodies are pretty banged up and there is scarring, but those look like old battle wounds" she said aloud.

"I hope you realize you're talking to yourself Captain. As much as I'd like to come over there and look..." Aeryn's voice was amused from the computer station as she continued to download as much of their medical database as she could.

"Just making an observati--" Fig began to reply but was interrupted by a noise.

There was a sudden stomping of a dozen heavy boots from the otherside of the room, outside in the corridor opposite the way they came in. The room had two ways in, but one of those ways in was most certainly not going to be a way out. "We have company coming" announced Fig as she rushed over to that side of the room and smashed the butt of her phaser riffle against the panel near the door. The synthetic plexiglass like substance cracked. She gave it another whack and pulled back, ripping some of the wires contained within. There were some sparks, but the Captain was unharmed.

"That will hold them off for...okay nevermind" she said as the doors were slowly beginning to be pried by the hands of half a dozen klingons. Several heand were slipping in through the narrowly open doorway. Captain Figueroa started shooting off her phaser riffle at the Klingons trying to get in and breach the doorway.

She looked over her shoulder at the nurse. "Take what you have!" shouted Fig.

Pulling the chip, she secured it around her neck again and winced as a phaser blast whizzed over her head, making her hair stand on end with the static of its passing.

"I need to check others and regroup" said the Captain. "Let's get you back to safety" added Fig nodding at the nurse. The Captain removed the communicator she was equipped with, flipping it open. It made that distinct sound as it tried to communicate with the starship nearby. "Figueroa to Musashi. Lock onto Nurse Vinia and beam her up immediately" commanded the Captain.

She only had a brief moment before the woman would be encased in a shimmering affect and dematerialize. "Don't worry. I'll be there soon" she said, only waiting as long as she could no longer make out Aeryn's shape. The Klingons were coming, and Fig had to get going!
