Mission:
S01E02 D-8 With the Devil
Location: USS Musashi
Timeline: Back Story
It had to happen, it was one of those days. Lieutenant JG Rob Grey. Had woken up late as he got up he stubbed his toe on the corner of the chest. Which he still had to unpack but time had run away with him lately. Swearing he was glad Karen and the kids had decided not to join him on this ship. She had her own career to consider and she would never leave the kids with him on a ship of this size. This had been the third ship he had been on since joining Starfleet. His early days were on a training vessel. The scars of those early voyages still haunted him even now. The Klingon war had taken many lives on both sides. But none were more important to him than fellow Starfleet officers who join this very organisation to explore and map those places that no one had gone before.
An old D-4 battlecruiser with carbon scorch marks from a supposedly glorious battle had exploded and caused the ship he was serving onto take critical damage rendering it dead in space. A tense few hours till the ship was rescued and returned to Star base 2 where it condemned to the mothball fleet. That brought Rob right up to date he got the promotion and the transfer to the USS Musashi an Ares class starship it was the first time he had walked the decks of a larger star ship. As for any new posting it was the start all over again the new routines, the new people. Not knowing if you would make friends. After all these people had formed friendships and relationships. For him it was another fresh start. He headed to the shower and allowed the water to engulf his body it was a little too hot but he relaxed as the temperature adjusted to his skin. He wondered what the rest of the would bring so far he had bad start.
Breakfast consisted of orange juice and toast. He hadn't got dressed yet as his uniform with its new rank insignia a promotion he was sure he didn't deserve the day he found out that he was no longer and Ensign was a shock with some what in trepidation and sadness. What he missed more in the world was his wife and children and that morning sound when everyone is up and chaos be it organised rains of the grey household. He got dressed and headed out but checked first that he was smart and looking the part. While walking the ship he noticed that there so many more people walking the corridors more so than on the previous ship. The smiled and went about their business not really paying a medic any attention. They wouldn't want to talk to him unless they needed medical advice..
He wasn't officially on duty till 0900hrs the following day. He been scheduled to see the Captain and the Chief Medical officer and today was orientation of the Ares class ship. As much as he wanted the quiet of the ship was eerie. The humming of the engines was like listening to the heartbeat you know it was there so it was safe to say everything was ok with the world so to speak. Rob needed a sit down and drink it seemed like hours he had been walking around the ship. His feet hurt as the boots where new. Typical he could have done as many military personnel have done over the years. But he always left things too late. The motto now some times you had to embrace the change and move with the times. Rob headed back to his room and made a few data stream messages for family and then laid down on his bed where he drifted off to sleep.
