Mission: S01E01 - At the Brink of Night
Location: Science Lab
Timeline: Current

Fethraie made her way to the Science Lab. She paid no mind to the people she walked by but maintained circumspectivity all the same. Though she did give small nods and brief salutations to those who did so first, her stroll through the ship was pretty uneventful.

Parting doors invited her into the Science Lab where she found Commander Samuels and some of his team working feverishly in squaring away the lab. Having no other concerns demanding immediate attention, Feth stood just inside the lab awaiting recognition.

"These crates here need to go to the medical lab," Christopher said as he handed over a PADD tablet over to a crewman. "Just give this to Doctor Hill please." The young crewman nodded as he took the PADD and then took a hold of the antigrav handtruck and pushed the crates toward the entrance to the lab. Christopher himself picked up another PADD and just as he began to look at it, he caught the Vulcan security chief standing there. "Ensign D'Darra, what can I do for you?" he asked once he had approached. He had been quite busy and had a long list of things to get done, but he wasn't about to brush off the Vulcan ensign either.

"Commander," Feth looked around the room at the other crew going about their work, "I seem to have caught you at a busy time." She regarded the man as quite handsome. His ears were not pointed enough though. "I do have a request. But if this is not a convenient time, I trust you will let me know."

Christopher regarded the Vulcan female for a moment. Over his career and personal life, he had very little interaction with Vulcans. Starfleet was still dominated by humans, and he didn't see that changing anytime soon. It wasn't that the humans were xenophobic, it was the other alien races didn't see humans are worthy. "Right now is fine, ensign. What is your request?" He crossed his arms over his broad chest and waited for the Vulcan ensign to speak.

"I do hope you are aware of this, but Commander Miller carries with him a Rigellian Type 2 disruptor. The captain seems fine with this and I will certainly abide by the captain's wishes. Commander Miller also ordered me to keep his weapon off the books as being present aboard this ship. That is an objection I will take up with the captain and I am fully prepared for her to uphold that order. In light of such, I feel I need a detailed scan of the type of wound left behind by his specific weapon. Just in case a member of the crew gets injured by a weapon that is not recorded in our arsenal. That being said, I request that your team create a batch of simulated flesh and have Commander Miller fire his weapon at it. I ask for a fully detailed scan of the results for my own analysis and to be filed away for later investigation just in case the worse should befall us."

Of course, Miller has an unregistered weapon, Christopher thought to himself. The chief engineer seemed to be a hot head, and he knew the two would probably never get along. They were like night and day, and frankly, the engineer seemed a bit unhinged in his opinion. He would hope the weapon gets registered, Miller he felt shouldn't be an exception to any rule. "I can tell you from experience the would that weapon will leave will not be pretty." However, he found himself nodding to the request. "I can certainly do that for you, though Commander Miller may not be too amiable to help with your experiment."

“Then please advise him that this is not an experiment, but assurance for the safety and security of the Musashi. Enough Starfleet regulations are being broken just by him possessing such a weapon. For it to be kept off the record as being on board, even more regulations are broken. A line must be drawn and I cannot simply ignore the presence of an unregistered unlawful weapon aboard this ship. He must comply with my request.”

Christopher nodded. "I certainly agree with that, Ensign," he replied. Again, he was unclear why Miller got to be the exception to the rule, and he an inkling that the engineer and the captain thought alike in some regard. However, Fig seemed by the book, so it seemed odd to him she would allow Miller to keep the weapon 'off the books'. "I'll be sure to take care of it. After all, I do have some pull around here."

"I thank you Commander," Feth said as she sent him a nod. "That is all I have at the moment. If there is ever anything you need that my services can provide, I am but a comm away. Until then, I find myself looking forward to performing our operations and activities in each other's company."

"Same here," he said, he then watched as the ensign took her leave. He stood there for a moment, arms crossed over his broad chest. The Vulcan female had intrigued him and perplexed him all in the same breath. He knew he barely knew her, but there was something about her that seemed... off. She almost seemed, ruthless. Was that even possible for a Vulcan? He supposed anything was possible. He shrugged and turned back toward his work, allowed the thought to bury deep into his brain to think about later.
