Mission:
S01E04 The Outpost Has Eyes
Location: Main Engineering
Timeline: Immediately Following 'It's Time For A Change'
ON:
Charles had finally changed into a fresh uniform and departed from Lieutenant Sh'howul. The next item on his agenda was to report to his boss, someone named Lieutenant McGovern. Walking through the corridor, he stopped just outside of the massive doors that would lead him into Engineering. Releasing a massive sigh, Charles walked in and looked around. Everyone appeared to be hard at work on something or other, which suddenly made Charles feel the need to jump on a console and start making himself useful. Looking around for someone who wasn't at a station, he tapped a man on the shoulder. Upon further inspection, he appeared to be a Lieutenant in his early 30's.
"Excuse me, sir. I'm looking for Lieutenant McGovern. Do you know where I can find her?"
Engineering had been running smoothly, the fact that Lieutenant McGovern stayed behind didn't cause even a blip of a problem. That was the thing about engineers, they knew they still had a job to do despite change. Musashi had seen her fair share of changes over the course of the past few weeks, so it was commendable that the staff still were keeping things going. Caleb himself had to deal with that change as well, except his meant more. He was acting chief now, and would become the full-time chief if he so chose to do so. The tap at his shoulder pulled him from his thoughts, he took another moment before turning halfway to see a young man standing behind.
"You will have a long wait," Caleb said, the corners of his lips tugging upwards into a small smile. "She is on longer on board, I'm Lieutenant Garcia, the acting chief." He gave the man a quick once over, and turned fully to face the young man. "And you must be our officer in training."
Chuck nodded and snapped to attention. "Sir, Cadet First Class Bartowski reports." he said quickly, his eyes staring straight ahead.
Always the pomp and circumstance, which Caleb found a bit much considering he was just the engineer. He understood why of course, he was a cadet once after all, but it took time to realize these things. "At ease, Cadet Bartowski," he said, and then extended a large hand. "It's good to have you on board."
