A friendly Chat

Posted on Sat Sep 15th, 2018 @ 9:23pm by Lieutenant Aeryn Vinia & Lieutenant Junior Grade Shras th'Zarath

Mission: S01E04 The Outpost Has Eyes
Location: Lounge
Timeline: Backpost- Just after leaving the station

Shras had a new job, to him that mean a change in uniform color. That didn't necessarily mean that he had to completely change his routine. He entered the lounge as usual. Went up to the bar, where the bartender saw the Andorian approach.

"The usual Lieutenant?" the barkeep said.

"Am I that predictable?!" Shras asked. The barkeep nodded as he poured the orange juice. Shras took it with a smile and sat down. I'll order something different next time. Maybe something alcoholic to spice it up Shras plotted as he found a table.

Aeryn entered the lounge, after having explored the ship for quite a while just to get a feel for her. It didn't help that her sense of direction wasn't the greatest, and she kept losing her way. Touching her fingertips to her forehead in thanks, she walked to the bar and picked up a menu.

Shras noticed the newcomer and walked back up to the bar. For one thing to get himself a new drink, but mainly to introduce himself. "Good morning." he said

"Morning greetings to you as well" she answered raising bright blue eyes to look at the Andorian who'd greeted her. She hadn't seen an Andorian since her academy days, not so many of their species went into medicine it seemed. "Might I have a cup of Masala Chai tea please."

"Let me intoduce myself." Shras said, forgetting his manners. "My name is Shras. Former Navigator, now Chief of Security." he said.

"My pleasure to meet you Shras. I am called Aeryn and I just came aboard as head nurse." The bartender placed a steaming cup in front of her and she smiled gratefully at him.

"Nice to meet you." he said, adding a smile of his own.

"Am I in your way?" she inquired politely, noticing that he had yet to order anything from the bar and continued to simply stand there.

"Not at all ." he replied. "Just getting a refill and thought I'd introduce myself."

"I love to meet new people, and I must confess that I've not seen an Andorian since I was in the Academy in my Comparative alien physiology class." her bright smile surrounded him and she pulled a chair out with her foot and settled down at a table.

Shras returned the smile. "That's cool." he said, sipping his drink.

"It is rather, there are an awful lot of Humans and Vulcans in Starfleet, I love to meet other races that have found a home here. Like me."

He nodded. "Me too actually." he smiled, honestly. "To be honest, that's one of the reasons I joined Starfleet. I know the federation isn't just Andor." He laughed. "I wanna see it all before I die." he smiled.

"That's a noble goal I think." she answered after a moment's thought "I would have joined anyway just to explore the universe. But I have alterior motives as well. Starfleet saved me, and my sister so I owe them a lot. This is my way of giving back a little of the life I know I would have lived on Catulla"

His antenna perked up. He knew nothing of Catulla to be honest, and that was a faux pas for a former Navigator. He sipped his drink. "Saved from what? If you don't mind me asking."

"The life of a twin on Catulla is fraught with peril, nasty practical jokes, oppression and evil eye talismans." she shrugged wryly, though her shoulders fell a little from the memories. "Our mother was even told not to suckle us, for fear the gods would transfer our bad luck onto her. We escaped by mostly luck and a bit of help from Starfleet. I found my way to Starfleet on gratefulness, and Ailani is now a Professor of History."
